“Count Me Out Of Imo Alleged Ritual” – Sat Guru Maharaj Ji
The
Spiritual Leader of One Love Family, Sat Guru Maharaj Ji on Wednesday
washed his hands off the allegation against one of his devotees,
Chimezie Osigweh, who was accused of killing his 78-year-old mother,
Mrs. Lucy Osigweh, 10 years ago and got her embalmed in a private shrine
at Ezuru Umuagwu village, Imo State, on Monday. The media has since
then picked on Guru’s name after the accused told journalists that he
has been a senior member of Guru Maharaj Ji’s faith for the past 24
years. Speaking through the Coordinator of Lagos One Love Ashram, Premie
Koribe Babatunde Bamgbala at the headquarters to Independent Newspapers
Limited in Lagos, Guru said, “there is no iota of truth in the innuendo
being peddled around that Guru Maharaj Ji members are ritualists. Let
me state here that I have nothing to do with ritualism. The door of any
of our ashram is open for anybody to find out about what we do. Maharaj
Ji’s faith abhors ritualism. In all our teachings, there is nothing like
fetish or using human being for ritual at all. We don’t suck blood. I
will never do it.” He continued, “Yes, the man in question is a member
of One Love Family, we can’t deny that. We want the police to carry out
thorough investigation and tell the public the whole truth. The man is
facing pure family matter that has nothing to do with Guru Maharaj Ji.”
He added: “there have been instances where members of a church or other
faith have been accused of doing one terrible thing or the other. Does
that suggest that their leaders were the ones behind it? I am not
passing judgment yet, but what happened was a personal affair of the man
and his family. That should be treated as such. Again, I want the
public to underline what Chimezie said that as a Guru devotee, he would
not want to talk anyhow for now. Therefore, the police should
investigate further because we know that anything about Guru to some
persons, is evil whereas they are wrong.”
