The second commander of Boko Haram, Sheik Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez, sent a statement to journalists in Maiduguri yesterday Monday January 28th, saying their group has agreed to a ceasefire after talks with the Borno government. Ibn Abdulazeez said he had "the consent and approval of our leader Abubakar Shekau and I call on all members to stop hostilities". The commander said their group was serious about the ceasefire, and security agencies are free to arrest any of their members that violates it once the ceasefire has been fine tuned . “We are going to comply with the cease- fire order and by the time we are done with that, then government security agencies can go ahead to arrest whoever they find carrying arms or killing under our name,”  he said.

Two Nigerian stars have been honoured with the UN ambassador for peace  awards.   Zaaki Azzay , singer and wife beater was honoured on Sunday 20th January 2013 alongside   Halima Abubakar , Nollywood actress and producer. Guinness Nigeria  have finally unveiled the world’s largest jersey at the Teslim Balogun stadium , Surulere Lagos. The  unveiling and signing was well attended by Guinness officials, Guinness lovers and Super Eagle supporters. The initiative was launched to sow support to the Super Eagles who are participating in the African Cup of Nations 2013 (AFCON). Word reaching us is that the actress will be replacing singer, Sasha P as the Samsung phone ambassador.  Though there’s no official statement yet, the actress will be replacing Sasha P as the Samsung ambassador. This means that she will be used as the face of  Samsung  for ads and campaigns and will be at Samsung events. The duration of her contract and the amount she was paid has not been made public yet but you can be sure that we will bring that to you soon. There is still no word about whether Banky W ‘s contract will be renewed but from all indications, that would be the case. We can only wonder why Sasha ‘s contract wasn’t renewed. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) , Pastor Enoch Adeboye has condemned Same Sex Marriage  describing it as evil. Speaking at the New Year Thanksgiving Service organised by the Joint Christian Mission of the Obafemi  Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife , at the weekend, Adeboye said that the act is capable of wiping out human race in 20 years of its practice . ‘ The will of God for human being is to be fruitful, replenish and multiply on earth’, Adeboye noted, further describing Same Sex Marriage as anathema to God’s will and instruction . ‘How can a man who marries a fellow man produce a child? The National Broadcasting Commission has banned a number of new music videos from being broadcast anywhere in the country. Reports indicated on Thursday that artistes whose works are affected by the action include P Square, Wande Coal, Timaya, Flavour and D’Prince . The others are Goldie, Chuddy K and Tillaman . The videos were banned for containing erotic lyrics and scenes, promoting nudity and for showcasing what the NBC describes as suggestive dance steps . The offending videos, according to the commission, are listed as P Square ’s Alingo , Wande Coal ’s Go Low , Timaya ’s Bum Bum , Flavour ’s Shake and D’Prince ’s Take Banana . Goldie ’s Skibobo and Chuddy K ’s Brazilian Hair came under NBC ’s axe for featuring minors and exposing them to indecent dance steps. Tillaman ’s Koma Roll was not exempted. Popular  Nollywood  actress  Foluke Daramola  has revealed she was raped before she turned 17. In recent interview with punchng.com, the actress was asked about her first crush and sexual encounter, and she explained that at 17 she fell in love with her first crush, a certain Seun Olomofe but before then she had been raped. She narrates that one of her neighbours had taken advantage of her when she was quite young: ‘ My first introduction to sex was rape. It was with one of our tenants. I got so close to him and saw him as an elder brother. He looked at me as someone that had been exposed because I was busty and he thought I had had a sexual experience before. So he had his way with me ’, she narrated. Daramola says she’s gotten over it but would like to share the sad story with the younger generation because ‘it is something that has been talked about’.

President  Goodluck Jonathan  has begun moves to reconcile with former President Olusegun Obasanjo , as a means of ending the rift between himself and his benefactor. Jonathan and  Obasanjo  had fallen apart over the last few months, following critical comments made by  Obasanjo  about the government. In a recent interview on Cable Network News, the former president criticised Jonathan’s handling of the Boko Haram insurgency and advised him to initiate a dialogue with the extremist sect. Obasanjo  told the CNN in the interview that Jonathan had been applying less of dialogue and more of force in solving the Boko Haram issue. A  cleric, Prophet Elikanah Ajibade, who was charged  to court on Tuesday and was remanded in prison, for alleged physical  abuse  of his son for attending a  church service  against his instruction, has denied reports that he asked the boy to roll on hot coal ashes.The boy who is now in the care of JWC staff, reportedly left home for the new year eve service on Monday, December 31, 2012, in a church which was not his father’s.
